Assessment Program

The CHD Assessment Program is located in the Westfield Youth Services Center in Westfield, Massachusetts. The program provides 24-hour, seven-day a week, secure, residential services, diagnostic assessments, planning and short-term treatment services for 20 adolescent boys, aged 11 to 17 years, who are committed to the Department of Youth Services (DYS). The program offers these youths a comfortable and respectful living and learning environment within the context of the program, as well as a range of academic and recreational activities to supplement its sophisticated psychological services. CHD’s Assessment Program presents a full complement of staff workers that includes a residential direct-care worker, clinicians, educational instructors, managerial staff and case historians. The primary focus of the Assessment Program is to identify root issues that have precipitated a youth’s commitment to DYS, and to provide DYS, the youth and his family with detailed service/treatment recommendations as the individual moves through the continuum of DYS services. The CHD Assessment Program is a closed referral program.
