CHD provides Therapeutic Mentoring services to children under 21 who are covered by Mass Health.
Therapeutic Mentoring provides structured, one-to-one support services between a therapeutic mentor and a youth to address daily living, social, and communication needs. Therapeutic mentors support, coach, and train youths in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution, and relating appropriately to other youth and adults.
Therapeutic Mentoring services are provided through CHD’s Family Support and Stabilization program in Springfield and Family Outreach of Amherst in Amherst, with referrals from CHD’s Outpatient Behavioral Health Services clinics and other community based clinics, community service agencies and in-home therapy teams.
