Community Enterprises celebrated 40 years of empowering individuals with disabilities to live, learn, work and thrive in the community at a luncheon on May 12th, 2016 held at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, MA.
More than 350 participants, staff, individuals and businesses in the community attended the event. Various guest speakers, led by Master of Ceremonies Scott Coen, congratulated CE and assisted in presenting the Community Partnership Awards. These awards recognized 75 employers, funding sources, participants, supporters, volunteers and staff who have exemplified Community Enterprises’ mission throughout the past 40 years.
CHD Vice President of Adult Services, Julie Schwager, was honored at the event. This quotation from her nomination letter scratches the surface of how committed and passionate she is about her work: “To hear Julie’s values surrounding recovery is truly inspirational. She works closely with our Directors and staff in the implementation of Community Based Flexible Support services for individuals funded by the Department of Mental Health and she was instrumental in the expansion of our services to deaf individuals with mental health issues. Community Enterprises is very fortunate to partner with someone of Julie’s character and skills.
