West Springfield, MA (August 25, 2014): Jerome “Jerry” Myers has been named the new Director of CHD’s Cancer House of Hope. Located in West Springfield, Cancer House of Hope works to enhance the lives of people with cancer and those who care about them by providing emotional, educational, social, and spiritual support free-of-charge.
Jerry brings many years of management experience to his new position. He was formerly a director with the Eastern States Exposition and, more recently, ran JDM Landscape Consulting & Design Solutions. While at the Big E, Jerry directed a staff of 12 employees and a diverse group of 150 volunteers. He also helped raise significant funds as liaison to the Eastern States Exposition Foundation. “In addition to his fundraising and management experience Jerry brings a deep personal commitment to helping people with cancer and their loved ones,” said Vice President of Adult Services Julie Schwager. “He is compassionate and combines his business experience with a deeply creative and caring nature.”
Jerry has strong community ties through his memberships on the Board of the Massachusetts 4-H Foundation, the University of Massachusetts Board of Public Overseers and the Massachusetts Agriculture Club. He is the Executive Vice-President and Chair of the Philanthropic Cause Committee of Silk City Chorus and is a volunteer with the AIDS Foundation of Western Massachusetts. Jerry graduated from the University of Maryland and received his Masters of Arts from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. “I am honored to be a part of the Cancer House of Hope, and am excited to work and interact with the incredible volunteers, supporters, and members who use the House.”
