Each year, the Center for Human Development is proud to sponsor Through Her Eyes, an innovative and thought provoking conference that focuses on issues and best practices for young girls and women. This year’s conference, to be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018, has as its theme “From Trauma to Triumph.” We will feature a keynote by Laura Prescott, an internationally known trauma specialist and person with lived experience. We anticipate that her presentation will be meaningful to mental health professionals, educators, young women and others for whom this topic of resiliency in the face of trauma is of interest.
For the first time in the history of the conference, we are inviting educators and community providers to nominate a young woman (ages 15-17) for one of our available scholarships to attend the conference free of charge. Among the many workshops being offered, there will be several specifically geared to our young attendees. We invite you now to nominate a young woman for whom this topic has particular meaning and significance, by virtue of lived experience, their contribution to the community and/or any other connection to the subject matter. The brief application below will be reviewed by the Through Her Eyes planning committee, and 20 worthy nominees will be selected to attend the conference free of charge. The deadline for submission of your application is September 17, 2018. We look forward to considering all applicants, and we invite you, your colleagues and others to consider attending the conference as well. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
