Open House Celebrates Important New CHD Resource: Prospect Center

CHD’s soon-to-open Prospect Center in East Longmeadow hosted an open house on May 17. This resource will provide mental health counseling in individual and group settings, peer support, medication, and early-intervention services for children, young adults and families.

Attending were school, police, and fire officials—including East Longmeadow School Superintendent Gordon Smith and East Longmeadow Police Chief Mark Williams— CHD leadership and staff, and members of the Hampden County DA’s Community Safety and Outreach Unit.

CHD President and CEO Jim Goodwin pointed out that Prospect Center “has a close relationship with key service providers in the community, especially the East Longmeadow and Longmeadow school systems.” CHD Vice President of Community Engagement Ben Craft said because the growing strains on the mental health of many children have been taking place even before the pandemic, “Prospect Center will be a very valuable resource for the communities in the southern belt of Springfield, Springfield itself, and even communities in Northern Connecticut,” he said.
