January is National Mentoring Month: Make an Impact Through BBBS

During National Mentoring Month, CHD’s Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County (BBBS) is looking for new “Bigs” because there is a growing waiting list of “Littles” hoping to be matched to mentors. Pictured are some recent matches of BBBS Bigs and Littles.

Kids today need mentors more than ever. If you or someone you know are considering getting involved, read more about BBBS.

Being a “Big” doesn’t require being an expert in any one subject. It’s about one-to-one mentoring friendships. Bigs and Littles hang out two to three times a month for a few hours doing everyday activities, like taking a hike, doing homework, playing games, or grabbing some ice cream.

Each match is supported by a dedicated match support specialist/case manager who is always there to provide resources. With a Big in their life, Littles in the BBBS program are empowered to ignite their potential as they grow in their self-esteem, earn better grades, and develop a lifelong friendship with their Big.
