Matthew Leone Appointed Vice President of Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Services
Matthew Leone, CHD’s new Vice President of Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Services, brings deep experience as CHD’s Senior Program Director for our Central Region and Gateway Community Behavioral Health Center, where he led integrated teams and partnered closely with Massachusetts’ Department of Mental Health, Department of Public Health, and Bureau of Substance Use Addiction Services.
In this vice president role, Leone will work with program directors across the Adult Mental Health and Substance Use division to strengthen care coordination, risk management, and quality improvement for the people we serve.
Prior to his work at CHD, Leone was program manager of Emergency Services & Supports at Behavioral Health Network in Springfield, where he had also served as assistant program director and program coordinator for its Community Safety & Support program. Before that he was a community safety clinician and a crisis clinician for that agency.
“I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to move into this leadership role here within our amazing organization,” said Leone. “CHD is one of the greatest behavioral health services agencies, and I want to help ensure that remains the case for years to come. I will continue to work collaboratively, embrace new challenges, promote innovation, and build upon the top notch care we provide to the individuals and families we serve.”
“Matt has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to person-centered care and operational excellence,” said CHD Chief Operating Officer Tracey Decker. “His ability to build strong, integrated teams and to partner effectively across systems will help CHD expand access, improve outcomes, and advance our mission for adults living with mental health and substance use challenges. I am pleased to welcome Matt to the leadership team, where he will further strengthen CHD’s ability to support our clients, community and our mission.”
Leone, a licensed mental health counselor, earned his associate of arts in psychology degree from Holyoke Community College, his BA in psychology from Westfield State University, and his master of education in psychology degree from Springfield College.
