From mentoring programs to services for persons with disabilities, CHD provides programs that are community-based and broadly accessible.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters
What can be more important than helping a child grow into a happy, healthy, productive adult? Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County provides one-to-one mentoring to local children in need of positive adult influence and friendship. Learn more
CHD’s Disability Resources program was created to serve individuals of all ages with physical or visual disabilities. Through a variety of activities, from adaptive sports and recreational outings to social gatherings and educational events, we seek to enhance the self-confidence, interactive skills and physical abilities of program participants.
Family Outreach of Amherst
There is no social structure as powerful as the family. At CHD we believe the best way to help families in crisis is by providing support services that respect the family structure. Family Outreach of Amherst supports and assists families who are struggling with mental health, trauma, medical, substance abuse, and life skills issues.
Grace House in Northampton is a residential treatment program for mothers who are in the process of reuniting with their children while also recovering from substance addiction. Grace House provides intensive intervention, clinical support, life skills development, child care and case management services in a supportive environment that emphasizes safety, sobriety, hope, and respect. PACE School in West Springfield provides a small, private, coeducational environment for students who have been unable to succeed in a public school setting because of learning, behavioral, and emotional difficulties. Students are given the opportunity to grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically in a stimulating, safe, and nurturing learning environment. Learn more
Therapeutic After-School Program
For at-risk youth, the hours after school are too often devoid of meaningful, healthy activities. CHD’s Therapeutic After-School Program provides structured mentoring services to help these students with their daily living, social, and communication needs. The program also supports appropriate participation in recreational, athletic, artistic, educational, vocational, and social activities. Learn more
