Volunteer for Not Bread Alone

A warm meal, a friendly smile, and a sense of community can make someone's day.

Breaking Bread and Building Community

Sharing meals builds social bonds. Without our volunteers, many of our neighbors would be eating in situations that are anything but welcoming or pleasant.

At Not Bread Alone, we enjoy family-style meals in a nurturing environment. It’s a place to relax, refuel, and connect with others in our community. Every generation, from kids to seniors, is represented.

Some volunteers come in once a week, others twice a month, and others just on occasion. You can help with a range of tasks such as setting up tables, chopping vegetables, cooking, serving, sweeping, organizing, and other needs.

We encourage weekend volunteers to sit down and enjoy a meal with our guests, which is often the most rewarding part of the experience.

Hours of Operation

Homemade meals are served on the lower level of the First Congregational Church of Amherst UCC every:

  • Saturday & Sunday at noon
  • Wednesday at 4pm
  • Thanksgiving & Christmas

Groceries are distributed every Saturday at 12:45pm.

Please consider joining our next gathering. Your helpful hands and smiling face will make all the difference in someone’s life.
