Open Your Home
In Western Massachusetts, there are more kids waiting for homes than there are homes available. That’s where you can make a difference.
CHD Foster Care
We currently maintain 65 foster homes throughout the region. Every day, we receive referrals for children transitioning out of group housing, being discharged from a hospital, or entering the foster care system.
As needs vary from child to child, you’ll have the opportunity to assist with:
- Short term and long term placements
- Emergency overnight placements
- Placement for children with special medical or other support needs
However you choose to help, you’ll be fully supported by experienced caseworkers and home-finders.
As a CHD foster parent, you’ll learn about a range of topics, including discipline, bullying, eating disorders, and suicide prevention. You’ll have the tools to help children cope with issues of trauma and abandonment. We can also provide counseling to help with issues such as depression and anxiety. We value our foster parents as important partners. We will be there to support you and your foster child in any way that we can.
While foster care inevitably comes with challenges, foster kids are really no different than their peers. They want to make friends, have fun, and just be kids. Together, you can attend holiday parties, monthly activities, and field trips that make lasting memories.
Becoming a foster parent means giving a child a second chance. The care you provide fosters the skills and confidence needed to live a full and productive life.
Thanks to partners like you, every child in our foster care program receives the love and attention they deserve.
