Emergency Shelter

Safety Zone Emergency Shelter provides 24-hour short-term shelter for young people who have left home or are homeless. The aim is to reduce the problems homeless and runaway youth face by providing outreach counseling, crisis intervention, temporary shelter and after care services. These services are voluntary. Host homes are located throughout Western Massachusetts.

Young people between the ages of 14 and under the age of 18 can contact us directly, or referrals can be made by parents, courts, schools, community or state agencies, etc.

Street Outreach

CHD’s Safety Zone Street Outreach program provides support to homeless and runaway youth. The aim is to reduce the problems homeless and runaway youth have by providing information and referral services. This program provides connections to community, health, education, mental health services and other basic needs, with follow up and support. Young people under the age of 21 can contact us directly, or referrals can be made by other agencies. These services are voluntary.
